About the Job:
Join the Cloud Integration Design team, a well-established team, designing Integrated Services for IBM's premier cloud platform Bluemix and other Fortune 500 on-premises enterprise software offerings.We are looking for a Visual Designer skilled in designing visual communication, layout, typography, etc. to join our team based at IBM Studios Hursley. The candidate's output will be integrated into products used across the world by hundreds of thousands to build, deploy, and manage apps for use by millions. The desired candidate must have a passion to empathize with our target users and synthesize products to meet their needs. You will use your design expertise to elicit emotional connections and intuitive, intelligent responses from our audience. You will take direction from a Design Lead and it’s your job to work with User Experience Designers to translate gathered knowledge about the people who will be using our software into high fidelity designs and to articulate that experience to other designers, developers and offering managers.
- Work closely with design team members, product management and engineering
- Explore, evaluate and refine mid to high fidelity designs to gather further user insight and to guide the product implementation:
- Create design artefacts in a way that will get the feedback you need to influence the product’s design
- Support testing, workshops and interviews to derive insight from your designs
- Converge on a clearly articulated user experience that shows other designers, developers and offering managers how to address user pain points and deliver the things they need
- Pixel perfect precision and expert skills in Adobe Creative Suite and other design software are a must
- Work with Design Researchers, Visual Designers and Developers to ensure that everything you do is supported and guided by research, as well as being realistic and implementable
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline
- Previous experience in visual design role, preferably within enterprise software and performing the design activities to deliver successful outcomes.
- Ability to be creative, curious, questioning, open to critique and have a ton of initiative
- Strong, innovative vision supported by a disciplined attention to detail
- Ability to work within a cross-functional team and handle multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Examples of written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate alternative approaches and to present information with attention to detail
- Ability to create designs at a variety of fidelity levels, and understanding of the most appropriate techniques to gather the most useful feedback at different stages in the process
- Ability to clearly communicate a design through storytelling that helps the audience develop empathy for the user, and clarity on what the user experience of the software will be
- Knowledge of software tools for design, production and implementation
- Knowledge of HTML and CSS is also beneficial
