A much sought after opportunity has become available at York Hospital.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, with experience of managing people and services, to join the senior management team within the Radiology Directorate. The post holder will manage the Vascular Imaging Unit (VIU), line manage the nurses across the directorate, the radiographers working within the VIU and will take responsibility for the day to day activities undertaken in the department by the wider MDT.

The current VIU comprises of 1 Interventional Radiology catheter laboratory (IR cath. lab), 1 Interventional Cardiology cath. lab and a 12 trolley preparation / recovery area, in which 3,400 procedures are performed per annum. Plans are underway to increase capacity within the VIU through a significant redevelopment of the unit to include 2 additional interventional labs and an ultrasound room all served by a larger recovery area.

The successful candidate must possess the skills to lead the team through a period of change whilst maintaining a high quality service. Imaging is a specialised field of medicine and there will be the requirement for the post holder to gain a high level of understanding in relation to the provision of this service. The Trust is a regional vascular centre and the VIU offers a 24/7 on call emergency interventional radiology service to a population 850,000 across North East Yorkshire.
