We are pleased to announce recruitment to Speciality Doctor in the Central Locality Acute Services in the Central Norfolk Locality of Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT).

The Trust has a strong educational reputation for teaching of medical students and training of psychiatrists with a well-established training programme for junior and senior trainees. The successful candidates would be expected to support the ongoing development of research, teaching and training within their post and across the Trust.

NSFT is committed to Service User and Carer involvement in the design and review of Service provision. Successful candidates would be expected to hold this principle in the centre of their work ethic.

The post requires an exemplary clinical leader who supports the delivery of high quality and safe patient care through effective multidisciplinary and multi-agency working. The posts require highly skilled clinicians who are flexible, adaptable and resilient who will actively participate in service development required.

The PICU forms a part of the Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trusts Acute Services. Hosted by the Locality, it provides comprehensive assessment and targeted active intensive multi-disciplinary interventions for individuals suffering with mental health illness whose needs require a level of observation and care beyond that which can be safely provided on an open acute admission ward. It primarily covers the population covered by the Trust.

Individuals are referring to the unit either in the initial stages of illness or suffering an exacerbation of illness during an existing hospital admission. It provides the enhanced level of care and security necessary to care for people who are vulnerable, requiring safe, specialist environment for a short period of time. The care delivered is underpinned by a holistic; recovery focused philosophy, incorporating principles of containment and reduction of risk, with the ability to quickly and effectively respond to situations both within and outside the unit.

The management and governance structure of the PICU actively seeks to engage with the views of the service users, carers and stakeholders in order to build meaningful working relationships and promote inclusion in future policy development.

We will be seeking to employ suitable qualified candidates who can bring drive and enthusiasm by a confident clinical ability and skill set.

The interview date is provisional and may be subject to change.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
Apart from its legal duties in relation to equality and diversity, the Trust recognises and actively promotes the benefits of a diverse workforce and is committed to treating all employees with dignity and respect regardless of race, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion or belief.

Additionally, people with disabilities that fall under the Two Ticks - Guaranteed Interview Scheme will be offered an interview providing they meet the minimum criteria for the post (outlined in the Person Specification).

DISCLOSURE AND BARRING SERVICE CHECK (formerly CRB)
FOR POSTS WITH DIRECT SERVICE USER CONTACT - Please be advised that due to recent changes in the DBS Service, organisations no longer receive copies of DBS Disclosures – these are sent directly to candidates only. Therefore, it will be your responsibility, if successful, to ensure that this is taken to the appointing officer as soon as you receive it.

Alternatively, if you have subscribed to the update service, we will be able to check your status once we have your authority to do so.

The Trust has now introduced a DBS Update Service which is a contractual requirement. You need to subscribe when you have applied for your DBS clearance and there is a time limit to subscribe of 19 daysafter receipt of your DBS disclosure. Please ensure that this is completed within the set time scale.

This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship (formerly a Work Permit)

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.
