About the Job:
excellent opportunity has become available for a creative and focussed Senior Sous Chef to join a young, dynamic and motivated fresh food and private events company. Based at the company’s main catering site in Somerford Keynes, Gloucestershire, the successful Sous Chef will join the company’s award winning team to earn a starting salary of £24,000 to £28,000, dependant on experience.

The company’s events are incredibly diverse, from large scale multi day events for blue chip companies, to wedding receptions and private dining for small numbers in private homes. Working alongside the Head Chef, events and restaurant teams, the Sous Chef will be responsible for the day to day management of production and support staff, suppliers and equipment needed to produce and fulfil the diverse range of events that are required by the company’s clients. Your core duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: 
  • Delivering a fantastic level of food service at client events and when running the pass at the restaurant
  • Leading a team/s of chefs and kitchen staff effectively and efficiently
  • Assisting with production of all food as required by the events team
  • Organising and preparing collection food and kitchen/service equipment for events in partnership with the production team
  • Overseeing and being responsible for standards of food delivery at events in partnership with the operations team
  • Working closely with the Head Chef on the day to day management of kitchen and operational staff including maintaining records and adhering to company policies
  • Day to day management of kitchen and warehouse equipment and resources
  • Maintaining current, management systems to improve efficiency
  • Consistent performance in kitchen management and submission of weekly and monthly accounting, health and food safety records as well as maintaining compliance with up to date legislation and industry best practice
To be considered for the Sous Chef position you must have a true passion for and strong experience in food and hospitality along with demonstrable experience in high quality establishments whether restaurants, hotels or private catering. In addition, you must possess the following key skills and experience:
  • Positive and upbeat personality with a “nothing is too much trouble” attitude
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations
  • Ability to relate to and get on with a wide range of personalities
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Competent level of numeracy and literacy
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and deliver on often tight deadlines and budgetary constraints
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • An attitude of constantly striving to improve and succeed
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Full clean drivers licence
  • Experience in event catering specifically may be beneficial but not essential
  • Knowledge and experience of a wide range of cuisines and food styles is advantageous
