For our Global IT – Distribution department we are currently looking for a
Technical Architect Distribution IT (WMS)
Purpose
In this vital role, you will help us in successfully leading the solution design of the distribution projects for the adidas Group. You will help in establishing standards and governance for template-driven design approach for the projects and act as a consultant for the project teams. Additional experiences that will help you in this role include working with Warehouse Management System (WMS), Warehouse Control System (WCS), ERP Solutions and their integrations. You will get exciting opportunities to implement the best practices in supply chain design and collaborate closely with external vendors and internal teams. You will be a key pillar of our distribution team as we continue to expand globally!
Key Accountabilities
- Build and lead the IT solution design for global distribution projects, based on the business requirements
- Act as a subject matter expert for all distribution solution related topics.
- Accountable for building standard and governance standards for global templates for distribution projects
- Mentor other solution architects in the adidas distribution group, as needed
- Collaborate closely with the internal adidas groups such as Global/Local Operations teams to design the most optimal design based on best practices and template-driven approach.
- Lead a team of regional team and external vendors to translate the design into configuration for the solution.
- Lead the documentation of solution design and configuration, ensuring consistency with other implementations and taking inputs from the supply chain management and global operations teams.
- Manage and escalate design challenges that can add risk to the project.
- Enable consistency and reusability across implementations with regards to functionality (modifications), host interfaces, WCS integration and system reporting/alerting tools.
- Collaborate with business and the supply chain management teams to identify strategic/long term Distribution Centre requirements/innovations.
- Ensure that the solution design is transitioned to the project team members in a smooth and effective manner. Work with the solution development team (WMS and WCS vendors) to ensure requirements are clearly communicated and documented to ensure high quality of software code.
- Accountable for keeping updated on new version and release notes of the distribution solution and following up on the new solution functionalities that can help improve the future design.
- Accountable for meeting project schedules. Advise the project manager of project status and problems of specific assignments. Drive issue resolution and escalate when appropriate.
- Manage and build standards to conduct solution design review adhering to adidas Group’s processes, standards and methodology.
- Ensure quality gate and risk mitigation standards are implemented on all projects.
- Manage and define the design standards with regard to functionality, customizations and potential performance impacts.
- Support all testing activities – Unit, Integration, Performance, Regression and User Acceptance Testing, vis-à-vis any design-related requests that may come up during the project implementation.
Knowledge, Capabilities and Experience
- 3+ years of experience in consulting or leading design for Supply Chain execution systems such as Warehouse Management System (WMS) and integrated systems. Experience with WMS from Manhattan and/or JDA (Red Prairie) is a plus.
- Experience with working on medium to large-scale IT distribution will be a plus.
- Ability to lead and work effectively with large business and IT teams.
- Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects
- Ability to clearly communicate across all levels of the business and IT
- Ability to challenge and propose alternative solutions
- Be able to examine issues both strategically and analytically
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Enthusiastic, flexible and self-motivating
- Open to domestic and international travel, sometimes at short notice. Expected travel is 50% or more.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.

Your home base will be adidas Group Headquarters in Herzogenaurach in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region – Germany
This position will be offered on a permanent contract basis (no freelancing).
