Basic qualifications:
• Life science graduate plus relevant experience
• Background in cell biology and/or immunology
• Experience of cell culture techniques (cell lines and/or primary cells)
• Experience of bioassays including functional and immunology assays using technologies such as flow cytometry, RT-PCR, immunocytochemistry
• Ability to generate high quality data
• Maintenance of accurate and clearly written laboratory notebooks and database records
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience in cell line generation, in particular single cell cloning and protein expression
• Ability to work independently to develop and optimise new assays
• Excellent communication skills

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join a newly formed Oncology Cell Therapy Discovery Performance Unit (OCT-DPU) in Oncology R&D at GSK. The ideal candidates will have skill sets that span both cellular biology and immunology.
The candidate will support the in vivo/ex vivo characterisation of novel cellular therapeutics for in vivo team using biochemical and cellular activity assays. This position will be laboratory based involving performance of experimental work. You will be expected to be able to plan your daily work within direction set by the supervisor. You will also develop, validate and conduct biological assays as required for the projects. Furthermore, you will have a track-record of delivery and a strong scientific background. You will be expected to develop credibility with colleagues across GSK R&D, perform data analysis, record keeping and reporting of results to corporate databases to agreed timelines and to give oral presentations of results at programme, group and departmental meetings.
The candidate must be a creative, innovative self-starter, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in team and matrix environments.
