About the Job:

Please note that contact with applicants will usually be by email, and so please check all of your mail folders regularly (unfortunately some providers filter our messages into junk mail folders).

Do you share our values? We’re looking for applications from people who:

  • care about what they do;
  • respect and value others;
  • listen in order to improve; and
  • always do what they can to be helpful

…to help make us a valued and trusted partner within our care system, that delivers safe effective care to our local population.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative pharmacist to develop medicines optimisation services to patients in their own home as part of the multi-disciplinary York community hub. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and engagement skills and will use these to drive the service forward and show measurable improvements to patient outcomes. You must be registered with the GPhC and hold a post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy and experience conducting medication reviews. An independent prescribing qualification would be beneficial for the post-holder, but not essential. Like all pharmacists, you will participate in the weekend and on-call rotas.

A bit more about us and the surrounding area:
Often voted one of the top places to live in the UK, York offers a vibrant city lifestyle in beautiful historic surroundings. It boasts great transport links, fantastic schools and a world-class university. Not far outside of the famous city walls, you’ll find our 700-bed teaching hospital, alongside St Monica’s Hospital to the north of York in Easingwold, and the New Selby War Memorial Hospital to the south.

Apart from living in a fantastic part of the country, as a member of our team, you’ll have access to one of the most generous and comprehensive pension schemes in the UK, 27 days annual leave (on top of Bank Holidays) and an award-winning package of staff benefits, more details of which can be found by clicking on the 'Award-winning staff benefits' link.

What next? Explore the links on the left-hand side further and be sure to read our ‘Our guidance for applicants’ before applying. Good luck with your application!

Additional notes:

  • As a post with a managerial or leadership component supporting services based across multiple sites, you may be required to travel as part of your role. Potential travel requirements can be clarified by the recruiting manager

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship (formerly a Work Permit)

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

UK Registration

Applicants must have current UK professional registration. For further information please see applying from overseas.
