About the team:
Our very gifted systems team uses all sorts of platforms and applications to take care of over 5,000 HR and Finance people. The talent here ranges from Developer to Technical Specialist, Project Management to Business Analysis, and eager trainee to seasoned lead.
About the role:
The role will involve working closely with the Team Leader, Project Manager and other team members to provide the high-quality programming and analytical skills needed to develop and support the HR and Finance Systems at NEXT. The successful candidate will be heavily involved in the support of new and existing HR and Finance related systems, both in-house and 3rd party. The HR & Finance Systems team support multiple platforms; candidates must be prepared and willing to be cross-trained in technologies such as SQL, .Net and C# where training will consist of in-house and external training courses.
You will:
• Demonstrates experience of learning new skills and adapting to new technical environments in a short period of time.
•Have an enthusiastic approach to working in a challenging and demanding environment where priorities can change at short notice, often dealing with multiple issues concurrently.
•Provide excellent research and analysis skills, with a proven ability to work on own initiative, with a focus on process improvement for both the business and the team.
•Be able to accurately estimate project timescales as well as measure and report current progress while demonstrating a logical & analytical approach to problem solving.
•Provide out of hours support via a rota based callout system.

Criteria
About you:
Essential
·Experience with JCL, ADABAS Natural
·Be willing to learn new technologies
· Experience with Application Support and problem solving
Desirable
• Any experience of some of the skills below would also be advantageous:
•IBM Websphere, Java, MS SQL, C# .Net Frameworks v3,v 3.5, v4, v4.5, XML/XSLT, MS Team Foundation Server, CA Endevor.
•Experience of using Team Foundation Server.
• Commercial experience of DB2.
