Senior Commercial Manager

We’re looking for a talented individual to take commercial ownership of PayPal UK SMB’s sole payment solutions business. Working in partnership with the wider PayPal organisation you will be expected to identify areas for both growth of existing and acquisition of new merchants, helping them navigate a new and complex regulatory environment and delivering on operational and financial targets.

The sole solution portfolio includes Website Payments Standard, and our card payment services Website Payments Pro and Virtual Terminal and will see increasing importance of the Braintree product. Working with Dublin operations, the UK SMB & Partner teams and the wider European PayPal teams you will help build a long term migration to new product streams for new and existing merchants.

You will be required to oversee and manage the commercial impact of European IFR (Interchange Fee Regulation) and the adherence to PCI compliance to merchants using our card payment products. This will include churn and decline analysis, minimizing the impact of operational or product changes and building a strategy to capitalize on market movement to grow the portfolio.

Experience required:

• Relevant card payment, acquiring and/or banking experience, ideally with exposure to front line and merchant management roles.
• Strong, in-depth and proven knowledge of the UK and European card acquiring market and its key players
• Managing and driving growth in new customer acquisition across all channels and sales teams (website, internet, telesales)
• Be very financially numerate- be able to understand and interpret data, to be able to make decisions based on data and solid business case rationale
• To be able to deconstruct and solve problems, to investigate drivers and figure out ‘why’ things happen.
• To be able to perform ad hoc analysis where required- needs to be able to use Pivot tables; SQL skills/experience desirable

Qualifications required:

BA (hons) or an equivalent professional qualification is preferable but not essential.

Knowledge required:

• Knowledge of online payment processing, credit card merchant accounts, and the online merchant or “e-tail” space is preferred.
• Ideal candidate will have an understanding of how payments strategically impact a company’s online business model.
• Able to think creatively, sell strategically and communicate efficiently internally and externally.
