Resident Engineer – Automotive

Globally recognised, market leading Tier 1 supplier of World ClassAutomotiveproducts, focussed on delivering the highest quality service to their customers, are now seeking a Resident Engineer to support their prestigious OEM and help maintain their status as the Supplier of Choice to many of the world’s foremost Car makers.

The ideal candidate will become part of a team aiming to guarantee that external customers are completely satisfied with the product. You will be responsible for ensuring Quality and Communication within the customer’s site is maintained and for the flow of information between the customer and the company in real time.

Location – Milton Keynes / Oxford / Banbury / Northampton / Warwick / Daventry

The Challenge

Main duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as principle liaison with the customer in order to resolve customer enquiries
  • Liaise with the customer on audit vehicles, QZ meetings etc.
  • Ensure a high profile is maintained on site at Customer.
  • Provide regular feedback to both the customer and company internal departments through various mechanisms i.e. daily, weekly and monthly reviews.
  • To project a professional image of the company to customers/visitors and represent your company at customer meetings
  • Manage on-site inspection of parts on Customer site (two on site inspectors)
  • Train operators who would provide absence cover in quality techniques
  • Provide Quality update information for concerns and potential concerns when they arise.
  • Provide Management with a daily shift report.
  • Ensure all containment activities are covered by company personnel.
  • Manage KPI Pack.

The Candidate

  • Skills & Experience:
  • Qualified to degree / HNC level in a relevant engineeringdiscipline.
  • Experience of injection moulding, paint applications and assembly techniques.
  • Quality Management Systems knowledge (TS16949 and APQP process)
  • Some team management experience
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Good decision making ability
  • Must be able to manage customer feedback.
  • Problem identification and problem solving
  • Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Good literacy & numeracy skills
  • Good IT skills (will be using the customer portal)
  • Strong attention span with a good eye for detail.
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Analytical
  • Must be prepared to travel
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence
