WMG’s Cyber Security Centre are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to work on an FP7 EU funded project on “e-Crime”, grant agreement number 607775 and will be subject to the continuation of the availability of the funding and the project.
The aim of the project is to reconstruct the spread and development of cyber-crime in non-information and communications technology (non-ICT) sectors from the perspective of its economic impact on the key fabrics (i.e., economic and social) and different levels of European society, while also identifying and developing concrete measures to manage and deter cyber-crime. E-crime is funded by the European Commission, and has ten partners from eight European countries.
E-CRIME focuses on:
- Mapping the observable developments and effects of cyber-crime within and among non-ICT sectors, Member States and diverse stakeholder communities.
- Assessing existing counter-measures.
- Measuring the economic impact of cyber-crime on non ICT-sectors.
- Developing concrete inter-sector and intra-sector solutions to address cyber crime.
The ideal candidate should have a range of quantitative and/ or qualitative research skills, as well as, the ability or potential to publish excellent work in relevant fields.
An honours degree, 2:1 or above in a relevant field e.g. Computer Science, Maths, Engineering, Cyber Security, Ethics, as well as, possession of a PhD in a relevant discipline are also essential to the role.
If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade structure (£28,453 pa). Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure (£29,301 pa).
