Applications are invited for the above post to work on a BBSRC-funded project entitled ‘In a bad place: Dopamine regulation of contextual fear learning’. This multi-disciplinary project will use in vivo electrophysiology, pharmacology and behavioural testing procedures in rodents to investigate how dopamine modulates activity and synaptic plasticity in the neural circuitry underlying contextual fear learning. The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated team and will take full responsibility for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the project in Dr Carl Stevenson’s lab at the University of Nottingham, Sutton Bonington Campus. Part of the project will also be based in Dr Stephen Martin’s lab at the University of Dundee in Scotland.
Applicants should have (or should be about to receive) a PhD in experimental neuroscience or another relevant discipline. Experience with rodent behavioural testing, stereotaxic surgery, systemic and central drug administration, in vivo electrophysiology, and neural activity data analysis is also very desirable. Independence, perseverance, organisation, flexibility, effective communication, and teamwork are all essential.
This full-time post is fixed-term for a period of 3 years.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Carl Stevenson (carl.stevenson@nottingham.ac.uk). Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
