The Department of Psychology is seeking a full time research associate for funded until 30th September 2020 to work with Dr Harriet Over and Professor Steven Tipper on a Leverhulme Trust funded project entitled “Harnessing the power of visuomotor fluency to encourage healthy choices”. The project will identify subtle methods that implicitly shift preference via manipulation of the fluency with which perception and/or action is achieved, measure which techniques are most effective, and investigate how to apply them to real-world behavioural change by implementing them in to computer games designed to encourage healthy eating in children.
The post will involve testing adult and child participants in experiments where visuomotor fluency is manipulated to change preference and choice.
Candidates should have a PhD (or nearly completed PhD) in experimental psychology or related disciplines. Experience publishing in high profile, peer-reviewed journals is desirable.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to give a 10-minute presentation on the subject of their PhD and how their experience and will help them contribute to the project.
The salary range is £31,076 - £38,183. The appointment is available until 30th September 2020.
