We have a great new opportunity available for a Release Engineer to join the Pipeline Engineering Team. The team is responsible for building a Continuous Delivery platform that is consumed by the entire organisation to self-serve their deployments and releases to all environments (Lab to Production).
The team primarily focuses on developing platforms, using a combination of programming languages (NodeJs, Java, C#, Ruby, Python), tools (Jenkins, Git, Chef) and technologies (AWS, VMWare, Linux, Windows) in addition to also supporting multiple CI/CD Tools.
The Pipeline Engineering team follows the DevOps principles, developing platforms to consume rather than simply build tools or write scripts to execute. We are looking for developers who are interested in and have a background in the Operations domain. The person is expected to have strong knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle as developing, testing and supporting productionized apps will be their primary focus.
Responsibilities:
- Your primary responsibility is to design, develop, document, and thoroughly test your code. You will be given ownership of software components of the back-end (payment web services) or the front-end (admin web UI) depending on the projects in flight as well as your affinities. You will get to build your own automation and reporting tools to provide capabilities around the components / applications you own and will participate to troubleshooting Production issues.

- Invent novel solutions to challenging technical problems
- Translate functional specifications into logical, component-based technical designs
- Design, develop, debug, and modifies components of software applications and tools.
- Drive technical direction at the application/product level for small to mid-sized projects.
- Design, implement, and maintain continuous build and deployment delivery mechanisms, leveraging innovative programmatic solutions and automation.
- Drive end-to-end stability and availability of tools and environments used by customers to support CD (DevOps).
- Develop automation enabling continuous delivery in support of build and deployment mechanisms throughout multiple environments.
- Work with teams Development, Test, Release Management and Application Engineering to ensure end-to-end solutions are designed and implemented for CI/CD.
Requirements:
- Proven Software Development work experience using modern languages (Java, C#, C++ Javascript, NodeJS experience preferred)
- Excellent coding skills
- Solid understanding of Object Oriented Programming concepts, data structure, algorithms, and system level programming (including multi-threaded programming)
- Experience with the full SDLC and shipping software using Agile and KANBAN methodologies a plus
- Experience in ITSM solutions (Remedy, ServiceNow) highly desirable
- Proven experience delivering production-quality server side applications in a professional software engineering role
- Devops experience desirable
- Comfort with any scripting languages (Ruby, Perl Powershell, Python, Bash)
- Expertise with build/continuous integration tools (Jenkins, Go, Travis-CI), with a preference for Jenkins
- Desired experience with configuration management/deployment automation tools (Chef, Puppet), with a preference for Chef
- Experience with Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure, OpenStack), with a preference for AWS EC2
- Expertise with build automation tools (Maven, Gradle, etc.), with a preference for Maven
- Desire to be a part of a successful team, learning from others, sharing your knowledge
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused, changing environment
- BSCS or related engineering discipline
