QA Engineer - Sky Technology, Leeds

Your key responsibilities

• Collaborate with developers and product owners to perform exploratory testing of user stories as they are being developed; ensure that completed user stories satisfy all the acceptance criteria and there are no outstanding defects
• Drive best technology and software testing practices into the team with passion and enthusiasm - particularly driving the automation of testing and adoption of BDD practices
• Ensure that Quality is built into the delivery process by using Agile testing methods to ensure that key requirements are tested early and often
• Participate in daily stand-ups, showcases, retrospectives, estimation and planning sessions
• Manage and operate QA environments including, builds and deployments and manage suitable test data
• Liaise with and handle queries from integration teams throughout the business
• Strive for continuous improvement within the team.

Your skills:

• Knowledge and experience of a wide range of best of breed Agile software test methods and tools, including the use of open source tools and frameworks
• Experience in building and maintaining test automation scripts using tools such as JBehave. Desirable to have experience in setting up automation frameworks from scratch
• Understanding of web technologies (JSON, HTML, JavaScript, Java, Groovy etc.)
• Understanding of REST principles and knowledge of API testing
• A basic understanding of object-oriented programming and the ability to write simple code in at least one OO language such as Java
• Basic knowledge of Unix shell, accessing & interpreting logs is also desirable
• Good analytical skills
• Experience of the full software development lifecycle.
• Bachelors' degree or equivalent industry experience
