PROJECT MANAGER - HIGHWAYS
DERBY
Your job is to deliver my client’s first ever major highways scheme!
THE ROLE
This is the first role of its kind with the company, the chance to break new ground. If you’re looking for somebody to map out your week structure; telling you where to go, what to do, who to meet; then you can save yourself five minutes and finish reading here.
Delivering improvements and upgrades to one of the UK’s busiest stretches of road means that the whole scheme will have to run like clockwork. That means that you will have a hand in decision making across the design, pre-construction, commercial, and delivery teams. You’ll ensure that the 3-year construction schedule is stuck to and the £30m budget isn’t just a fairytale! It’ll be down to you to know the contract inside out and use all your experience to anticipate issues before they arise.
THE COMPANY
My client are a mid-size civil engineering and building main contractor with a strong presence in the Midlands and the North of England. They’re progressive and forward-thinking and would expect the same from you.
You can expect a free reign from the Project Director you report into – support when it’s required but otherwise the freedom to deliver the project in the manner and style that your experience tells you is best.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
It’s more than likely that you’ll have delivered similar large-scale highways projects before. You’ll have a civil engineering background, so you can speak credibly about the technical aspects of construction (blaggers and chancers need not apply). Belbin tests will probably show you to have a good mix of roles with a focus on co-ordinator, shaper, and implementer.
We’re not looking for superman but if you’re about 90% there then it’s definitely worth us speaking.
REMUNERATION
Good things come to those who wait, and great total packages come to those who join my client. Whilst you can’t put a price on experience, the right Project Manager will earn somewhere between £50,000 and £60,000. On top of that, you’ll be eligible for an executive company car, a raft of health and lifestyle benefits, and a performance-related annual bonus (we’ve got Christmas covered).
