Basic qualifications:
• Extensive pharmaceutical R&D or related industry experience
• Undergraduate degree / advanced degree in life science or business
• Identify resource requirements and fill gaps within matrix teams.
• Lead preparation of governance documents.
• Manage external funding opportunities.
• Integrate compliance requirement into Matrix Team.
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills and general management knowledge to the R&D business environment.
• Ensure project information is quickly communicated to the appropriate stakeholders, in an agreed medium, sequence and in compliance with approved standards.
• Recognized as effective at influencing within Matrix Teams, PP&M, and Business Units.
• Participate in peer review process to ensure the best ideas for content and execution of project plans are built into each project plan. Conduct periodic health checks to ensure quality of project planning and control.
• Perform cross-project data analyses and reports, as needed, with current, accurate, high quality, and readily accessible data from appropriate source system.
• Maintain awareness of Project Management practice in the pharmaceutical industry and other industries.
• Ensure source systems are complete, correct, and up-to-date
• Participate in Finance and Portfolio reviews
• Provide decision-making framework within Matrix Team
• Mentor less experienced project managers and planners
• Participate in process improvement initiatives
• Establish relationship with key stakeholders, to ensure a thorough understanding of their expectations and recognition of the value of the project management function.

• Demonstrate thorough knowledge and application of skills in all relevant components of project management, including management of scope, time, cost, quality, integration, human resources, communications, risk, procurement, and scenario planning.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing GSK R&D projects.
• Deliver a GSK standard of excellence in project management, which drives new practices, best practice sharing, and training for matrix effectiveness.
• Comply with all corporate governance requirements, such as project information documentation and retention and compliance training.
• Complete training and maintain competence against the PM curriculum. Aspire to professional certification of project managers, where appropriate.
Job Family Group - Project Management: Plans, monitors and manages internal projects from initiation through to completing. Secures required resources, and uses formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks and changes. Manages projects to ensure project meets quality, timing and cost requirements. At the higher levels, incumbents manage large multifaceted projects. At lower levels incumbents may be concerned with clearly identifiable elements or functions within a larger project.
