The Goodfish Group is a privately-owned, venture capital-backed manufacturing business headquartered in Cannock. It has injection-moulding and tool-making facilities in Cannock and Worcester. With 80 employees and turnover of c. £6m, Goodfish is on a mission to increase sales to £20m by 2020.
In order to continue to offer better value for money to our customers over the long term, we need to ensure our productivity increases year-on-year. After all, we ship injection mouldings to 'low cost' countries like Poland, Turkey and Hungary every week, but we pay our employees much more than they could earn in Poland or Turkey. So every hour an employee works in our mouldshops has to be more productive than it ever can be in Poland or Turkey. To achieve this, we need more than to be lean. We need automation.
So we're looking for someone who lives and breathes automation; someone who walks around thinking 'how could that process be automated?' We're looking for the person who has a catalogue of automation products, ways and means lodged in his or her head, so that as soon as they see what needs to be automated, the virtual catalogue in their head is rifled through and he or she gets straight down to designing a cost-effective production automation cell using the parts in their virtual catalogue.
The ideal candidate will be confident in designing using CAD, in 2- & 3D perspectives, preferably in SolidWorks, as that's what we use. We have our own toolrooms who can put together the automation cells - after all, they already make parts of automation cells for well known customers. The ideal candidate will have worked in an injection moulding environment and be familiar with the challenges presented by hot and cooling plastic parts. But don't worry if that's not you: your strength might be that you can do some of the software work as well, or you might know people who can help us out in some other way.
As with all openings in the Goodfish Group, we look for people who are excited about what they do, are not looking to leave their current job just to earn more, are proper grafters and all the usual team player stuff. Please look at our website to get a better idea of what we mean, if you're not sure.
We pay market rates and then, over time, allow pay to rise above market rates as the grafter proves himself/herself. And we have fun.
