Who you'll be working with

Based in Leeds, our Technology team is one of the largest technical hubs in the UK, it's a strategic location for our business and offers a vibrant place to live and work.
Our new teams have a real 'start up' feel and there's loads of room for development. You'll have the chance to use cutting edge tools and technologies to create rich user experiences; all whilst working in an Agile environment.

As a Product Owner you will serve as the key stakeholder for one of our product development squads. You will communicate the vision and functional requirements necessary to deliver against our strategy and goals, aimed at improving customer experience and technical capabilities to ultimately provide better performance of sales conversion and upgrades.

The new Digital team is a cross-business department, bringing together our digital leadership, strategy and product management capabilities. We aim to provide the best possible digital experiences for our customers, across Marketing, Content, Service, Sky News and Sky Sports.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establish goals and metrics to measure effectiveness after release; monitor & report on progress.
  • Create and groom short, medium and long-term product roadmaps to communicate and seek internal agreement from key stakeholders.
  • Study competitive offerings in the market, anticipate customer needs and ideate candidates for future development.
  • Maintain the functional quality of the work being delivered by setting and evaluating expectations and acceptance criteria.
  • Help to own and advocate non-functional requirements to ensure optimum performance of the site.
  • Communicate priorities based on well-defined and measured business cases.


The successful candidate will have:
  • Experience of working in an agile environment, with strong knowledge of agile development practices (e.g. Scrum, Lean, Kanban), tools and management techniques.
  • Proven experience writing user stories and epics, grooming backlogs and planning roadmaps. You should have experience of co-ordinating and prioritising conflicting requirements in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Excellent technical and non-technical communication skills. Commercial leadership skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of common web and mobile products and technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience of multi-variant testing,
  • Experience of e-commerce or digital marketing is desirable.
  • Ability to understand complex business and technical issues and influence decision making at all levels of the organisation without formal reporting structure authority.
  • Experience of working on high availability products with greater than 10,000 users.
