About the Job:

Our Client is an international organisation with a market-leading reputation. As part of their growth strategy they are looking to appoint a Product Engineering Manager to join their senior management team.

The successful candidate will have a strong career history in the electronics & semiconductor industry, be able to manage a team and operate in a business that has a global base of customers & stakeholders.

The role:

  • To direct the new product development team from product definition through high volume production implementation in accordance with Corporate Procedures.
  • To interface & liaise with customers, suppliers and offshore packaging/assembly manufacturing locations to ensure the success of new programs.
  • To lead & direct project teams engaged in work assignments.
  • To develop new technologies to expand the semiconductor product offerings or enhance products to meet new market/customer requirement.
  • To prepare proposals and financial justifications as required to support new product development programs.
  • To assure the proper, complete engineering documentation package to support successful new product launch or product/process implementation per ISO 9001 standard or better.
  • To empower the engineering team to use all necessary tools to ensure meeting six-sigma design/process or develops a plan to achieve desirable product quality level.
  • To advise design groups in new ideas, robust design/process and promotes creative environment for breakthrough design, patented ideas and concepts.
  • To provide & direct technical training.
  • To enable the early participation of engineering, purchasing and other functions in the development process.
  • To solve problems (quality, performance and cost) related to products and processes using new materials, technologies, design, SPC, DOE or other techniques.
  • To keep informed on trends and developments in the semiconductor & electronics industries.
  • To oversee reliability testing and qualification of new and production products, demonstrating the achievement and maintenance of highly reliable products and processes.
  • To set goals and objectives for direct reports in the team, and oversees tasks undertaken by individuals to ensure timely, accurate and successful outcomes.

The person:

  • Degree educated, or equivalent
  • Significant progressive Engineering experience with proven capability to design, develop and release products, processes or equipment of major scope and a high degree of complexity.
  • Proven experience in semiconductor technology, design and development.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in semiconductor device assembly and packaging technologies.
  • Proven track record of successful management of engineering personnel to develop and nurture a high performance team, bringing successful products to market.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical measurement techniques used in the circuit protection industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards covering voltage and over current protection.
  • Strong time management & organisational skills.
  • Capable of managing work and deliverables from others, with little supervision.
  • Flexible and able to work in a demanding environment.
  • Willing to travel as required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate – knowledge of Microsoft Office including Access and Circuit simulation software.
  • A creative thinker, with the ability to challenge the old ways and seek better ways of doing things.
