This PostDoctoral project with Seth Masters will be focused on new mechanisms that regulate the innate immune system. This will interrogate pathways that activate or inhibit cytosolic pattern recognition receptors that form inflammasome complexes. We will also research how this is controlled post-translationally, and perform limited small molecule screens as a way to investigate the function of these inflammatory pathways in myeloid cells. Studies may also look at epigenetic and metabolic changes related to the immune memory of myeloid cells in response to these inflammatory events. Approaches include the analsysis of cytokines, protein complexes, pathways of innate immune signalling and methods of genetic manipulation (CRISPR, lentivirus). We will employ these and other next generation techniques to make major advances in our understanding of the innate immune system.

This role will be located in Stevenage, UK working with Dr Seth Masters, who is on secondment from the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, Melbourne, Australia. http://www.wehi.edu.au/people/seth-masters
