About the Job:
IBM requires a technical individual with a proven track record in delivering HPC complex systems, ideally into Secure government clients.  Experience of key application codes is key.
 
This role is to work closely with the client to help enable the optimal use of the HPC system.  They are expected to help support the client to optimise application code performance, support  the client in ensuring optimal system operations and act as the primary contact with the client during the operational period.
 
This post sales technical support person will need to work as part of a team to ensure successful installation of a large HPC cluster and providing consistent, on-going, on-site technical support to the client          
Due to the nature of the clients being supported the post sales technical support person must be security cleared or able to demonstrate that a previous clearance could be renewed, and available to assist with planning and implementation of major software and/or hardware changes for the duration any contracts required.
A key part of the role is to support the client in understanding their key application codes, how they can be ported and optimised for the Power platform. 
The successful individual will demonstrate an ability to work directly with the client, leading conversations and decisions on how to progress as appropriate, yet engage with other key IBM resources to maintain a successful implementation for both IBM and the client.  The aim is that the individual represents IBM being technical credibility to our solutions.
 
The individual is expected to contribute to Pre-planning, working closely with the client, other parts of IBM, and partners, to ensure credible/successful implementation plans, supporting the IBM bid team in building credible plans for the delivery of implementable, cost-effective HPC solutions
 
This role will be critical to supporting the client benchmark activity, and making recommendations to assist in optimising their code for the POWER platform .  Additionally this role will provide support to the client during code and HW and SW updates through the contract life.

Technical Skills required
- Experience of large scale complex HPC implementations 
Linux system network installation and administration (expert)
- Parallel Filesystem (intermediate)
- Job Scheduler (intermediate)
- Network knowledge (intermediate), Infiniband network (basic)
- HPC software stack (compiler, tooling, libraries (basic)
- System architecture (basic)
- POWER HW experience preferred
 
Non-Technical skills required:
- Self motivated and driven individual
- Strong rigor and autonomy
- Good communication skills  
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks
- Understanding client needs and priorities

Planning and implementation of major software and/or hardware changes
Technical Skills required:

Code Porting and Optimization
 
- Support client team to install and tune HPC cluster environment
- Application porting and benchmark
- Problem determination 
- Performance analysis, analytical problem solving and tuning 
- Creation of deliverables and re-usable material (technical documentations, presentations, tools)
 
Technical Skills required: 
- Proven experience in implementing and supporting a large scale HPC System
- Preferred experience of the POWER HW toolset.
- Linux, HPC stack (compiler, tooling, libraries, Infiniband, Parallel filesystem...)
- Knowledge in parallel programming including GPU: MPI, threadings, OpenMP, CUDA...
- Knowledge in HPC main languages (C/C++, Fortran, Python, Shell); Experience with compilers (gcc...)
- Knowledge in performance tools and analysis 
- Experience in application problem determination 
 
Non-Technical skills required
