Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellow in Qualitative Psychology

Liverpool Hope University - Psychology

Closing Date: Friday 4th November 2016 by 5.00 p.m.

Liverpool Hope University is a vibrant community with high scholarly standards. We are proud of our past, confident in our present and ambitious for our future. Research is central to our curriculum development and enhancement and all academic staff at the University engage in research. Building upon our REF 2014 submission we are looking with ambition and confidence to the next REF, strengthening even further our research degree programme (PhD and EdD). This developing research expertise builds upon and complements our already well established reputation for excellence in teaching and learning. Our policy is to combine these elements of our work in keeping with the University’s stated academic profile as a research-informed, teaching University of distinction. It is in this context that we now seek scholars in a number of areas who will join with us in pursuit of excellence; these opportunities include the post of:

Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellow in Qualitative Psychology

The Department of Psychology is looking for applicants with a PhD in Psychology, strong research track record in experimental psychology, and the capacity to teach in core BPS areas of our Psychology programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Our UG program is accredited by the BPS. Eligibility for Graduate Basis of Chartered Membership with the BPS is therefore a prerequisite for the posts.

You will be expected to assist in the delivery of core BPS courses, particularly in research methods and will primarily contribute to the teaching of qualitative methods. You will also be given the opportunity to contribute to the teaching of your field of expertise in any subject that relates to psychological wellbeing (social, clinical, counselling, or health). Candidates with a background in clinical or counselling psychology are particularly welcome. With excellent interpersonal skills, the candidate will act as a tutor for students at all three levels. A formal teaching qualification is desirable. Those without the qualification will be offered the opportunity to undertake it at Liverpool Hope. Though the position is primarily a teaching position the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to develop their research track.

We recruit staff nationally and internationally as we seek out the best to help build Hope for the future. If you join us you will be doing so at an exciting and challenging time as we work to build a liberal arts inspired university of distinction in the UK. If you have the energy, drive and commitment to assist us in this task, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Please note that this is a Post-Doctoral Fellowship and a Doctorate is in all cases required. Applications from persons who are nearing completion of a PhD will be considered; however, a PhD will need to have been awarded prior to the post being taken up. Please include the title and a copy of the abstract of your PhD in your application.

This post is a fixed term appointment for a 12-month period in the first instance.
