Basic qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Packaging, Material Science, Engineering or Pharmaceutical Technology (or equivalent)
• Significant experiences as packaging engineer/senior packaging engineer in technical support or packaging development ideally with experience in a multi-national regulated environment (Pharmaceutical / FMCG) and with good understanding of end to end supply chain
• Packaging projects management skills, with key focus on delivery on time, on budget and compliance with stage gates process and success criteria
• Recognized as an excellent collaborator and partner by Business and Technical communities
• Implementation of standard packaging development work processes (with continuous improvement philosophy)
• Ideation, development and execution of Innovation / cost savings and harmonization packaging projects
• Active contribution to the implementation of IT initiatives (e.g. Global Packaging Specification Database, Packaging catalogue).
• Good knowledge of Packaging Regulations
Preferred qualifications:
• Masters degree in Packaging, Material Science, Engineering or Pharmaceutical Technology

Packaging Development Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Packaging Development Manager to be a technical leader within GSK Consumer Healthcare R&D Packaging function, responsible for the design and development of breakthrough packaging aligned with commercial strategy for assigned Brands/Categories as well as supply chain activities including costs saving, complexity reduction & business continuity:
• Deliver of packaging that delight consumers while protecting the product and meeting GSK CH quality standards
• Manage packaging initiatives and projects: embed GSK CH packaging E2E process, systems and ensure compliance and ‘right first time’
• Works effectively with a cross functional project team from external to internal - Marketing, R&D & GMS - on the execution of the Category strategy to support innovation, cost saving, compliance and business continuity projects
• Ensure packaging knowledge and expertise on material science and packaging technologies are transferred within GSK
• Support the development and implementation of global packaging programs across the technical community
• Partner with suppliers & associates to develop best in class innovation for the category
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and Lead multiple projects with low level of guidance required
• Train more junior associates in established ways of working
• Good communicator in both written and verbal communications
• Have a positive outcome resulting of influencing within the function
• Support innovation – implement packaging innovation projects (DELIVER)
• Maintain awareness of competitor packaging activities and execute benchmark initiatives
• Aware of the Design to Value agenda
• Ensure new packaging and projects for assigned category are delivered on time, on budget and that project stage gate and success criteria are met
• Ensure packaging is seen as COE for knowledge and expertise on packaging material science and packaging technologies and ensures this is transferred into R&D and Supply Chain
• Liaise early on with manufacturing, Logistics, R&D, QA and Procurement to ensure smooth and robust product launches
• Generally works within identified boundaries
• Attend external forum or trade body
• keep abreast of current state of packaging technology with additional focus on specific areas of business interest
• Continually develop knowledge in new areas of packaging to improve efficiency in assigned projects
• Effectively uses the stage gate process for Innovation projects and maintain original design intent throughout the development process to product launch
• Seek and Implement learning and best practices
• Write specifications, reports, protocols and test methods that meet GSK CH standards of the global packaging documentation system. Initiate change controls and lead change activities
• Ensure consumer is at the heart of packaging development
• Identify and deliver Value Engineering opportunities for assigned category
• Provides general technical advice and support on cost savings and complexity reduction programs
• Ensure compliance in all functional activities and support quality/compliance activities as CAPA’s, deviations and change management
