Role Profile

Temporary apprenticeship for 3 Years

Must be 16-19 years of age and live within North Ayrshire

As part of North Ayrshire Council's Modern Apprentice Recruitment Process, you will be required to undertake a 2 week pre-employment course with one of our employability partners prior to Interview. For further information on what the course will entail and the training allowance click here . Details of when this will take place will be emailed to you in due course upon completion of your application.

ROLE DEFINITION

To undertake a Modern Apprenticeship and contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of the service.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Responsibilities

  • To undertake individual role in line with the Council’s Strategic Priorities and in compliance with the Council’s corporate policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.

Role Specific Tasks & Responsibilities

What will you do ?

Training with the servicing, diagnostic inspection and repair of the defects in the full range of Council's fleet of light vehicles , plant, ground care equipment and power engines.

  • Ensure that the fleet complies with current legislation.
  • Ensure repairs and servicing are completed in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Preparation and submission of vehicles for Ministry of Transport testing.
  • Ensure compliance with the Operator Licence.
  • Completion of appropriate vehicle records.

What do you need to bring to the role?

  • Three Standard Grades at Level3 or above or equivalent core skills at level 4.
  • An interest in mechanics or transport engineering
  • Manual dexterity (aptitude test will be carried out)
  • Motivated and enthusiastic
  • Willing to take and follow instruction

             OR
    three National 4 qualifications or above
    (one of these qualifications must be in English)
