Our Cambridge based client is looking for a Microbiology Research Technician to join their team. We're looking for someone with at least a couple of years' experience working in a Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related Biological Science lab.
What You'll Be Doing:
* You'll prepare, store and manage bacterial and viral stocks
* QC checks of biological stocks
* Time-kill exposure experiments in line with methods and standards
* Read plates, confirm and validate analytical results
* Follow procedures for all aspects of lab work and make sure that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, samples are handled correctly and that all data is maintained
* Report and/or calculate results in accordance with the methods of analysis
* You'll work with the team and help drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement
What We're Looking For:
* You'll have knowledge and experience of working in busy commercial microbiology laboratory, ideally a CRO, clinical microbiology, food microbiology, water and environmental testing or R&D labs
* Extensive hands on experience of working with a wide range of bacterial pathogens in a category 2 laboratory
* Extensive experience of TVC assays, preparation, storage and management of bacterial stocks and media preparation would be a bonus
* Experience of working with bacteriophage including isolations, plaque assay, lysate preparation, DNA isolations and simple characterisations would be a plus, but not essential as full in-house training will be provided
