We are a Northolt based Fine Foods Importer who have a new and exciting opportunity to join their busy Purchasing and Logistics department.
The role of Logistics Supervisor requires a candidate who has previously worked in freight and logistics, preferably in an FMCG company, and been responsible for organising shipments and obtaining rates and costings, negotiating with carriers and suppliers to maximise profitability on each and every shipment.
Duties will include:
·Maintain, review and create tariffs with agreed rates established with the Manager.
·Organise and follow through all shipments alongside the Logistics Executive.
·Build strong working relationships with transport companies and suppliers.
·Create quotations for import, export and /or cross trade in an agreed timeframe.
·Have an understanding of market conditions and trends.
·Be able to confidently negotiate rates with Freight Forwarders.
·Review all transport invoices, securing payment in a timely fashion.
·Resolve any pricing queries or complaints and escalate if necessary.
·Review all customs clearance paperwork and raise queries where required.
·Follow up all quotations to their conclusion.
·Communicate effectively with the Purchasing and Logistics team and all other relevant departments.
The successful candidate is required to have experience of working in Freight Forwarding and in particular sea freight and customs clearance procedures.Candidates must possess strong communication and negotiation skills, with a passion and desire to learn and succeed in their career.
