DESCRIPTION

The Collections & Recoveries Clerk will take responsibility of the recovery of consumer and trade debt passed onto the Legal Services Department from the UK Finance Centre, PCWB and other trading divisions.

Our Legal team are a supportive and hard working team who handle all issues with discretion using good judgment to protect and enhance the Company’s reputation. As part of this team you will maximise resolutions with the minimum cost and exposure to the business. In addition you will contribute as required to any other legal or administrative functions within the Department.

You will:

  • Input data accurately and in a timely fashion to facilitate the efficient recovery of debt.
  • Ensure that cases are correctly coded so that the applicable final notice is dispatched and where no response is received to initiate the collection process and where appropriate issue County Court proceedings to recover outstanding debts.
  • Prioritise the collection of high value debt.
  • Cross check with Lawson/Maginus/Legal Arms to ensure that the debt is still outstanding where proceedings are to be issued.  To correctly identify the identity of our debtors and where the Defendant is a limited Company to check that they are still active and confirm registered office details using the Companies House web site.
  • Ensure that all Orders and Directions of the Court are complied with in a timely fashion, meet deadlines set by the Court. Where applicable commence enforcement proceedings.
  • Comply with all processes ensuring cases progress along the correct work flow path. You will make sure that accurate processing and allocation of payments are received (i.e. streamline, standing order, cheque etc).
  • Respond to customer complaints / queries by letter, telephone and e mail in a timely fashion.
  • Manage the workload and time scales by monitoring all areas of your activity so that all tasks are accomplished to defined standards.

You will need:

  • The ability to manage high volume work.
  • The ability to work within a team.
  • Confidence, intelligence and commitment.
  • To be Computer Literate, MS Word, Excel, Lotus Notes.
  • Strong attention to detail and methodical approach, balanced with a pragmatic outlook.
