Keoghs LLP are a law firm based in Horwich, near Bolton. We are looking to hire an individual to provide legal administrative support to Fee Earners in our Disease team who handle cases in NIHL, HAVs, Mesothelioma, Asthma etc. This is an excellent opportunity for a degree graduate who has an interest in starting a career in law. The role is an entry level position but we hope it acts as a spring board to a long career as we can offer full career progression to the successful person. Opportunities will be made available to you either within the Disease team or elsewhere within the business.

The position (known internally within the firm as ‘Paralegal’) is a role where by you’ll be supporting the Fee Earners with delegated tasks in order to efficiently progress files to their conclusion. Main tasks will involve:

  • Updating the in-house computer system with diary records, court dates, inputting data ensuring accurate entry

  • Drafting of routine documents

  • Communication via phone and email to Courts, Counsel, Insurers etc to request updates, chase cheques, arrange dates.

  • Follow up on outstanding actions to ensure responses are received within required timescales

  • Administration duties on files such as completion of the management information, closing files and transfer activities

As you become more confident in the role your tasks would increase, full training and shadowing will be provided in order to ensure you are comfortable with the tasks you are given.

Recruitment criteria for the role:

  • Degree - Academic subject

  • LPC – studying towards or completed. We are able to accommodate a 4 day working week if you are studying the LPC part-time

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Must be confident on the phone

  • A good team work ethos – demonstrated through either work, education or extra curricula activities

  • Have an excellent eye for detail

  • Able to prioritise and organise a workload and sometimes conflicting tasks and timescales

  • Comfortable in using IT systems and MS packages
