Our client is one of Europe's leading independent laboratories, with an international reputation for high quality analysis, service and advice. They have a number of sites across the UK and Ireland and the food business is a key platform for the division. They are currently looking for a Senior Laboratory Technician to work within the Microbiology laboratory at their site near Cambridge. 

If successful you will be assisting in the microbiological testing of food products, water samples and swabs and aid the efficient operation of the laboratory in order to meet customer and internal requirements.

The position will be responsible for:

* To perform work allocated without deviation from the documented methodology and / or procedure whilst maintaining high levels of quality control.
* To conform with all site Quality Management systems and Health and Safety procedures and protocols.
* To perform daily quality control checks and calibrations.
* To perform analysis within the timescales required and ensure that result availability is in line with method and client expectations.
* Ensure that the laboratory areas are kept clean and tidy. To remove waste frequently and ensure it is disposed of in the correct manner.
* To ensure that all records are completed concisely and accurately with paperwork written in clear handwriting.

About you -

To be successful in this role you will have:
* A degree or equivalent in Biology/Biochemistry or a related subject
* General computer literacy skills, previous LIMS experience preferable
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work in a team environment
* Good organizational skills
* Good analytical and numerical skills
* Motivation to work in a dynamic and client focused workplace

You will be required to work a weekly rotating shift based pattern from 6.00 am - 3.00 pm and 2.00 pm - 11.00 pm Tuesday to Saturday.
