Laboratory Technician - Microbiologist

Scantec have an opportunity for a Microbiology Lab Technician to join a large and leading company in the South West. Joining the food testing laboratory you will hold a degree in microbiology or related subject, and have experience working in an accredited food microbiology laboratory to ISO 17025. (Though recent Microbiology graduates maybe considered). 

Duties include:

• To perform work allocated without deviation from the documented methodology and / or procedure whilst maintaining high levels of quality control.
• To conform with all site Quality Management systems and Health and Safety procedures and protocols.
• To perform daily quality control checks and calibrations.
• To prepare broths, diluents, agars and pre-poured agar plates and ensure that media stock levels are maintained.
• To perform analysis within the timescales required and ensure that result availability is in line with method and client expectations.
• To ensure that all records are completed concisely and accurately with paperwork written in clear handwriting.

Ideal candidates will be degree qualified in Microbiology or have previous experience as a Lab technician in a food laboratory. You will have good computer literacy skills and previous LIMS experience is preferable. 


Hours of work – 40 hrs per week on a rota of early and late starts between Monday and Saturday
