HR Policy / Employee Relations Job-Related Experience: 
• Proven HR operation experience, 
project management skills and a commercial perspective and pragmatism
• Experience in policy development and implementation
• Extensive knowledge of UK employment legislation
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to include strong presentation skills
• Proven ability to effectively use interpersonal skills and influencing techniques with leaders at all levels of the organisation
• Proven ability to identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities and make recommendations for solutions

Job Purpose:
The purpose of the role is to provide employee relations consultancy (specifically policy related) and advice/support to UK HR functions, developing and maintaining UK based HR process guidance and documentation to ensure compliance and consistency across the UK businesses, whilst also leading and driving standardization and simplification to support the operational efficiency of the UK HR function. The role holder will be progressive in their outlook and approach to the role and will actively work to ensure a positive and engaging environment is created for all.  

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead in the development and implementation of UK-wide people policies in collaboration with the UK businesses. Responsible for research, benchmarking and drafting policies and process up to final agreement either directly with the UK HR Operations Leadership Team, key customers, or via the Policy and Process Standardisation and Simplification Team, whilst ensuring documentation is available for auditing purposes 

• Partner with the I&D Lead to ensure alignment on policy and process where relevant (i.e. Gender Identity Policy, Equality Act, Family Friendly policies)

• Ensure guidance and standard processes are monitored and maintained to ensure compliance and consistency, whilst leading and driving standardization and simplification where the opportunity exists to support the operational efficiency of the UK HR function

• Provide consultation and advice to HR, including the HR Service Centre, on policy, process and employee relations matters in the UK, often including detailed project work (e.g. Gender Pay)

• Interpret UK based people policies and support the resolution of any associated employee relations issues across the UK where required

• Monitor and inform on strategic policy and process development by taking into consideration internal and external practices

• Develop and deliver education and training for line leaders and HR professionals on policy, employment law and employee relations matters

• Membership of the UK HR Services Council

• Represent GSK at external network bodies as required (e.g. eLERN, One Step Ahead Club)
