Our large Engineering company based in Peterborough is looking to recruit a Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager on a fulltime permanent basis. Working for a company that sends its products all over the world the role involves providing expert guidance to the Management Team in the development and implementation of the Company HSE Strategy, designed to provide continuous improvements in HSE performance as well as taking the leading role in the practical application of health and safety ‘on the ground’, thereby assisting management,employees and contractors to undertake the measures needed to comply with requirements of company policy, legislation and/or statutory provisions contributing to the achievement of zero harm.
Job Role:-
·Promotion of a positive zero harm health and safety culture by creating awareness and understanding of health and safety matters/issues, leading by example and influencing relevant parties as appropriate.
·Increase engagement with health and safety and zero harm ambition.
·Effective implementation of health and safety policy at a practical level.
·Day to day implementation and monitoring of policy and plans including accident and incident investigation, reporting and analysis.
·To work with the Group CSR Team to further develop and improve our HSE commitments.
·To work in partnership with HR and the Company’s Occupational Health Partner, supporting employee’s safe return to work and with general wellbeing programmes.
·Organise employee training in respect to HSE, First Aid, Fork Lift Truck, Fire Warden etc. and occupational medicals for employees as required.
·Manage the inspection of the machinery to ensure all equipment is in a safe operating condition and required records are maintained.
·To deliver HSE inductions to all new staff appropriate to their role and responsibilities.
·Conduct information/training briefings, providing support and guidance to staff, contractors, supervisors and engineers.
·Manage and report HSE metrics, identifying plans to improve performance to the Safety Committee.
·To understand the different HSE requirements across the organization in relation to function (i.e. Manufacturing and Field Service), role (office based, remote, factory) and workforce demographics and to work collaboratively with Managers to manage their HSE requirements.
·Identify and implement appropriate policies and practices to ensure that we provide a healthy and safe environment for our employees to work in.
·To ensure total compliance with health and safety legislation.
·To maintain our Environmental Management system, ensuring continuous certification to ISO 14001 whilst developing in line with changes (ISO14001:2015)
·To maintain our Health and Safety Management system, ensuring continuous certification (currently certified to OHSAS 18001) whilst developing in line with changes (ISO45001).
·Liaise with clients, external bodies and organizational with respect to HSE issues.
·Identify appropriate risk assessment process and procedure across the various areas in the Business and work with the managers to follow through, evaluate and follow up of outcomes. This will include: people, plant and machinery, facilities, etc.
·Develop the HSE management systems to incorporate all aftermarket activities including leading inspections, HSE training and audits at customers sites.
·Ensure that all employees are suitably HSE trained to conduct their job safety (i.e. mandatory training).
·Identify and set up the appropriate surveillance processes to ensure safety in the workplace.
·To identify opportunities and collate appropriate data to enable the development of an appropriate risk strategy management programme.
Qualifications
·NEBOSH Certificate and willingness to work towards NEBOSH Diploma
·Minimum HNC Level Qualification – Engineering/Business Studies/Environment/Safety
·Lead Auditor Trained (OHSAS 18001/ISO14001/ISO9001)
