Purpose of the role:
Provide leadership across the Area/Market on all matters pertaining to commercial and corporate law, regulatory issues, excise, trade, tobacco control, reputation, security and anti-illicit trade issues.
Principal Accountabilities
·Lead and manage in market external engagement on above issues to mitigate risk to the business and maximise competitive advantage
·Manage provision of counsel to Area/Market senior stakeholders on legal issues affecting the market
·Ensure high standards of corporate governance across the Area/Market on management of above issues
·Evaluate local competitor strategies (including illegal competitors) and lead development of appropriate responses
·To act as member of the Regional LEX functional and Area/Market leadership teams and provide direction, leadership and talent development for their function.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
·Broad functional expertise, credibly representing both Legal and External Affairs agenda
·Ability to understand and shape the external environment
·Credibility and ability to engage and influence senior external stakeholders
·Strong business acumen in order to advise the business on how to deliver results whilst managing business and reputational risk
·Ability to advocate the agenda in a straight forward and compelling way to internal and external stakeholders
·Broad knowledge of the tobacco control issues
·Significant experience in global FMCG organisation;
