Group Financial Accountant

Based to the west of Newcastle city centre, on Newcastle Business Park, with parking, as well as easy access by public transport.

With the continued growth of the business LSL are now seeking a Group Financial Accountant to work closely with the Group Financial Controller, and be a critical part of the group finance team located across sites in Newcastle, York and London. The Group has ambitious plans for growth, and this needs to be underpinned by robust and resilient financial controls and processes, which is the key purpose behind this newly created role.

The key responsibilities of this Group Financial Accountant role are: -

• To ensure full compliance with IFRS (FRS101 in subsidiaries)
• Ensuring strong internal controls are maintained in the Group
• Key contact for external audit.
• Produce the Interim and Full Year financial statements
• To provide technical advice to Group Finance and the wider business as required
• To manage the process of producing a Group Accounting Manual
• To ensure the businesses are correctly accounting under IFRS/FRS101
• To give assistance and guidance on acquisition accounting
• To manage the external audit process
• Adhoc projects such as due diligence as required.

The skill and experience required for this Group Financial Accountant role include: -

• Qualified accountant – (ACCA/ACA/ICAS preferred) preferably from the Top 4 accountancy firms
• Excellent technical knowledge and an ability to communicate that knowledge effectively
• Pride in high quality – strive for top quality and accuracy in all aspects of work whilst being able to work at speed when required.
• Good communication skills with an ability to build relationships across the business
• Will be frequently faced with unfamiliar accounting issues and therefore need the ability to assimilate knowledge quickly addressing business issues – thereby demonstrating critical thinking and effective problem solving
• Excellent spreadsheet skills
