Global Category Manager Production

Basic qualifications: 

Degree (ideally Administration/Finance/Marketing)

Preferred qualifications: 

Relevant experience in procurement, especially in marketing or market research categories.

GSK’s Procurement team has more than 900 members across 50, we actively managing  £13bn of GSK’s spend per annum across both direct and indirect categories.   

GSK Procurement influences the company's entire third-party expenditure, partnering with business units and driving value from supplier relationships to support GSK's strategies and targets.


Job purpose:

In this key role you will lead the creation, execution and management of the comprehensive global sourcing strategies for Production Agencies within the responsibility scope of CBS Procurement.

The global strategy content will need to be developed with close collaboration with regional category leaders of agencies and procurement leads in multiple priority markets. The strategy needs to ensure alignment of regional and global strategies and a consolidated approach to the management of the spend category. 

The global strategy will take full account of all regional and local market and stakeholder requirements while leveraging global scale, best practices from all markets and value opportunities country, regional and global.

Key responsibilities:

Strategy creation & execution
•?Create comprehensive global sourcing strategy for spend categories in scope of responsibility, operating with a truly global and strategic mindset and in close collaboration with the Global Category Leader to ensure full alignment with global strategies
•?Have a clear understanding of how global strategies affect local markets and the fit with regional strategy. Build an education & communication process for in-country Procurement leads and business units
•?Build and become the global expert in the spend categories within scope of responsibility

Benefit delivery
•?Deliver global benefits, quality, service, cost and innovation.
•?Create and deliver effective global budgets (Plans of Purchase) agreed with key stakeholders and Finance in accordance with the Spend Management Framework and fully aligned with global budgets and follow up through the year in each update cycle.

Business partnering & stakeholder management in GSK
•?Influence key global, regional, country stakeholders and business partners to support strategy development, endorse recommended strategies, support execution and agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted

External supplier relationships
•?Build strategic relationships with key suppliers at a senior level and lead processes to ensure value is driven from these relationships. Ensure regional considerations are accounted for in global supplier relationships. Leverage the Business Review Meeting process to drive the relationship.
•?Negotiate, create, execute and manage effective global contracts with suppliers (where required) that will allow GSK to maximize opportunity globally. Ensure regional considerations are taken into account in global supplier negotiations and contracts
•?Lead regional supply base reviews and global strategy reviews.

People leadership
•?Develop and implement effective, partnership, ways of working within the category management structure across geographical regions to ensure a cohesive regional approach to regional categories, aligned globally where required
•?Initiate and lead processes to enable regional and local Procurement representatives to input regional and local business requirements and market dynamic information
•?Ensure appropriate communication strategy is in place and in use within the relevant Procurement and business customer networks.

Skills/experience required:

• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
• Proven ability to work remotely and successfully in global complex organisations
• Understand of ERP´s dynamics.
• Use of Strategic Thinking to build relationship (with stakeholders and suppliers) and create sourcing plans
• Strong knowledge of promotional items Procurement
• Managing fast, efficient and transparent information flows
• Ability to plan strategies & lead high level negotiations for long term and/or multi-countries high value contracts.
