About Your Role

Work in an agile, cross-functional team taking responsibility for the team deliverables and quality

Work closely with team members and business stakeholders to fine tune user stories and conditions of acceptance

Developing rich customer engagement web applications for mobile, tablet, non-iPad tablets & desktop

Practice and promote good software engineering coding practices (e.g. TDD, Unit Testing, BDD, performance in design)

Contribute to the continual improvement of how we build software, and quickly Implement Proof of Concepts (POC).

Solve problems by pushing the boundaries of what the technology can do

REQUIREMENTS

About You

Have a passion for technology - keeps up to date with technology trends and modern software development practices

Analytical and logical approach to assessing requirements through to implementation

Enthusiastic, conscientious, highly motivated, and a team player

Proven experience of working in teams in the successful delivery of complex, highly performing and high quality software systems

Proven experience of working with business stakeholders, Product Owners and Business Analysts, Testers, to analyse requirements, develop ideas and design solutions

Understanding of non-functional requirements, quality assurance and continuous improvement methods

Essential skills

Strong JavaScript, JQuery programming skills with knowledge of design patterns including AMD/CommonJS modules

Strong skills in developing interfaces with semantic HTML, HTML 5 API, CSS3 & Media Queries

Good knowledge of CSS pre-processor tools particularly SASS,SCSS

Good Knowledge of using modern JavaScript coding practices like MVC, MVVM Frameworks particularly AngularJS, Bootstrap, React.

Server Side web development using Java (1.7 +), Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate/JPA on different technology platforms (Tomcat, Jetty, WebSphere, JBOSS)

Good understanding of SOA/ESB concepts and exposure to both SOAP and RESTful web services

Experience of Agile practices, particularly SCRUM and Continuous Integration

2+ years of commercial software engineering experience in a fast paced environment

Highly desirable

Working experience in SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL database (MongoDB, Hadoop, Cassandra, Redis, Riak).

Caching strategies and Frameworks.

Good working knowledge of common design patterns: Responsive Design and Grid Systems

Good grasp of standard performance optimization techniques

Methodical approach to coding using TDD and unit testing

Good experience working with GIT and GitHub

Knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of Mobile browsers and Mobile UX

Cross Browser Compatibility and Debugging skills

Desirable

Experience with CI tools such as Jenkins

Commercial experience with Behaviour Driven Design (BDD) and tools used such as Cucumber

Experience of working in a Node.js environment particularly with tools such as npm, gulp, bower
