The Palo Alto Security Architect is accountable for providing high-quality security services to my client (a leading Managed Services provider) customers. The candidate will have responsibility to review a large enterprise customer`s IT infrastructure, learn the full range of security services offered by my client`s security practice, and recommend which managed security products and services best address the gaps. 

The Architect will function in a delivery/architecture capacity and is required to advance their skill set in order to provide relevant expertise to customers. Consultants provide services in a variety of areas including, but not limited to: system architecture & design, system administration, application development, security, database administration, and networking.

Technical Skillsets:

- Familiarity with scripting, ability to review and analyze security events and alerts and provide customer with a high level summary of any ongoing or potential threats across the following 
- Perform Firewall Rules Reviews, Firewall Engineering tasks and adhoc implementation (expertise in Palo Alto/CISCO ASA Firewalls, Checkpoint or similar platforms) 
- Hands-on experience on Palo Alto modules (IDS/IPS/Wildfire/Site-to-Site VPN support, URL Filtering, Threat Protection: Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Vulnerability Protection, Data Filtering (DLP), QoS, Policy Based Forwarding, SSL Decryption , DoS Protection, Zone Protection, Dynamic Block Lists, Certificate Management, Netflow)
- Provide scripting knowledge and technical configuration guidance across 
- Firewall configuration 
- Network infrastructure routing configuration 
- Network and Host based Intrusion Detection Systems 
- Network-based Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS/Arbor) mitigation services 
- Log management services (ie. LogLogic)
- Web Application Firewalls (ie. Imperva) 
- Threat management services 
- Familiarity with the security incident response process 
- Work with the managed services teams and research required security patching for Windows, Linux and VMware (ESX) servers 
- Coordinate with managed services teams for scheduling and maintenance windows for firewall rule changes, patch management and other security tasks. 
- Perform OS hardening reviews (Windows/Linux/UNIX) and recommendations. 
- Maintain documentation around the various security services and related site specific procedures. 
- Review and update Security Policies and Procedures on an on-going basis. 
- Attend client and internal status meetings and perform reporting 
- Provide technical guidance to help assist with adherence to industry standard practices/compliance 
- Assist with any additional internal and external audits.

Essential duties (includes soft skills):

- Should be effective with customer-facing and set and manage expectations with client stake-holders and team members. 
- Demonstrated ability to make and take responsibility for decisions on major technical issues 
- Thorough knowledge and experience with security standards (Security architecture analysis, Security Administration and Palo Alto/CISCO Firewall Engineering). 
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to present to a variety of external audiences, including being able to interact with senior executives. 
- Excellent written communication. 
- Resilience and ability to handle stressful situations effectively while managing several tasks 
- Communicate with the client regarding pertinent information security issues and provide periodic security posture updates. 
- Architect complex IT hosting solutions by providing security subject-matter expertise in a consultative manner. 
- Experience with reading and interpreting Level 2 and Level 3 networking diagrams. 
- Ability to work within a defined change management process and willingness to participate in periodic after-hours scheduled maintenance.
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner and demonstrate initiative.
