Your role as a Fee Earner Paralegal:
You will assist the family service department with their caseload by working on a case management system, databases and normal office IT systems. You will be expected to take instructions from clients both over the telephone and face to face, draft correspondence, statements and documents, conducting case reviews and costs updates, and vetting new enquiries. Your role also requires downloading completed dictation from the Typing Pool and marrying up with enclosures Printing letters, emails and documents, making ready to post/email to clients and filing on client files.
Key Responsibilities:
Answering client calls and providing case information
Time recording for self and supervisor where required
Detailed knowledge of Family work, including procedural, advocacy and practical skills
Assisting with the mediator, arranging appointments and booking meeting rooms
Billing private files
To maintain a diary and bring up entries in accordance with the firm procedures
What you’ll need:
Excellent IT Skills with the ability to work with a Case Management System, databases and normal office IP systems;
Strong interpersonal skills and experience of working with the general public and a friendly, sensitive and cooperative approach to clients
Good knowledge and understanding of procedures and protocol
Good practical skills, including proven negotiation skills and the ability to prioritise work when necessary
Good personal organisation and ability to adhere to strict time limits
The ability to deal with individuals from all walks of life and provide the highest standards of client care
A commitment to equal opportunities and diversity
Experience of working within the Family / Matrimonial legal profession would be desirable
Experience of dealing with people via the telephone would also be desirable.
