About the Job:
Our client is a 200-strong site investigation contractor with a large fleet of drilling equipment. It is further supported by a fully accredited UKAS laboratory and together with the Geosciences division within the group, the company makes our client one of the UK's largest site investigation service providers. They now have a unique opportunity for an experienced Engineering Geologist/Geotechnical Engineer to join the team in Kent. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates with a solid understanding of UK geology and previous consultancy/contracting experience, looking for an opportunity to take on more challenging projects and responsibility.
 
The company has a wide portfolio of clients in a number of sectors including rail, transport, water and property. In addition, the company are particularly proud of the work that they have undertaken in the nuclear sector where over the last 3 years they have undertaken preliminary and main/intermediate phase site investigations at Hinckley Point and Wylfa on Anglesey.

As an Engineering Geologist/Geotechnical Engineer, you will be expected to lead or assist in the delivery of geotechnical projects and will therefore be able to demonstrate strong technical, commercial and project management capabilities.
 
More specifically, you will be responsible for: 
Managing sizable ground and site investigation contracts including the production of interpretive reports
Reviewing geotechnical studies at feasibility stage of projects
Mentoring staff and checking technical reports related to geotechnical engineering
Design and Supervision of site investigation works and projects in the following sectors: house builders, commercial property developers, public sector bodies, manufacturing and industrial
Effectively communicating with clients and colleagues to build strong working relationships with the aim of meeting and exceeding client expectations
Manage projects to meet both commercial and technical requirements and delivering appropriate solutions wherever necessary
Assisting with identified and generation of new business opportunities
Stewardship of health and safety in accordance with company standards and guidelines
 
Desired experience
Bachelors and Master degree in geology/civil engineering or a related environmental subject essential
Practical experience in supervising and managing Ground Investigations.
Excellent presentation and report writing skills
Able to plan and prioritise workload
Client driven with the ability to motivate and engage with immediate colleagues and those across the wider business
Knowledge of contaminated land and planning legislation an advantage
Full, clean driving licence essential
Chartered status a benefit
