Basic qualifications: 

• Degree plus Professional Qualification (e.g. ACA  or local equivalent)
• Varied and substantial tax experience including employment taxes

Preferred qualifications: 

• Excellent communication skills with senior leaders and non-tax specialists– making complexity simple.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with tax authorities and government officials
• Broad understanding of UK and international tax principles
• Firm grounding in full range of employee taxes 
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Details: 

In this role, you will support the business on the full range of employment taxes within the UK including share schemes, pensions, payroll and mobility, as well as providing broader tax technical and policy support on the full range of UK and international employment tax issues.

Key responsibilities for the selected candidate will include:

- Developing and overseeing the strategic framework under which GSK manages their UK employment tax obligations.

- Supporting the business on a  full range of employment taxes within the UK.

- Providing tax advisory support to the UK payroll, finance and long term incentives teams in completion of statutory employer compliance reporting requirements e.g. share based payments, P11D, PSA.

- Partnering  with Mobility and other relevant teams internally to provide strategic input and guidance in response to global employment tax issues identified as a result of cross border travel.

- Working with relevant teams internally to provide strategic input in relation to the employment tax implications of proposed changes to policies (e.g. expenses, benefits etc,), taking into account potential efficiencies available to the business.

- Augmenting existing UK Tax and Tax Policy team in defining and delivering strategic goals. 

- Taking responsibility for UK tax policy work in the area, providing input at level of the UK and devolved governments as appropriate.

- Providing strategic recommendations for appropriate GSK group responses to changes in domestic and international tax rules.

- Managing relationship with UK tax authority in the relevant areas of taxation.

- Managing external tax advisor relationships where appropriate

- Reviewing and enhancing employment tax processes, ensuring full compliance with SAO requirements.
