My client is a market leading specialist vehicle manufacturer. Due to increased orders an opportunity has arisen to appoint an Electrical Systems Engineer on a contract basis to join the team which is made up of a blend of permanent and contract engineers. The focus of the role is to design and develop vehicle electrical systems (including battery charging, lighting, power distribution, and radio communications).

Applicants must hold a technical degree-level or equivalent engineering qualification (such as electrical engineering, aeronautical, aerospace, automotive, control systems, robotics, etc.). Candidates must also have experience of designing and building electrical systems for vehicles / aircraft / complex machinery, from concept through prototype and testing phases, and onto production. You will need to have knowledge and experience of fault finding and diagnosing (using both OEM diagnostic systems and traditional methods). Previous experience of assembling electrical wiring looms and harnesses to automotive and/or military specifications is highly desirable. You should also be able to modify OEM electrical systems including integration of additional electrical circuits and overriding control settings and functions. On this note, PCB design and prototyping experience is desirable but not essential.

Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role. Equally as important is the ability to work well in a team. This role will involve both domestic and overseas travel so a driving licence and passport are highly desirable.
