Job details

Lloyds Banking Group is changing. We’re rapidly transforming into a digitally-led business on a massive scale in order to better serve our customers.

We’re already the largest provider of digital banking products in the UK, with over 12 million active online customers and nearly 8 million active mobile banking customers. It means a big opportunity for you to be part of ground-breaking transformation and it means there’s never been a more exciting time to join.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven candidate to join us as a DevOps Engineer in one of our cross-disciplinary teams. As DevOps is not a “thing you do” but a cultural change more than anything, you’re expected to drive this change and ensure that we embed agile and DevOps principles in everything we do.

In return, you’ll enjoy an exciting, innovative environment that supports flexible and agile working. You will work in a highly collaborative way to drive efforts to build, support and improve our tools for continuous integration, automated testing and release management.

With our breadth, reach and diversity, we can offer excellent opportunities for career growth and development and we are looking for people who can seize those opportunities. You'll get plenty of support but it's about taking the initiative, building relationships and making it happen. Do this and you can help us make a positive difference to our customers, our colleagues and our communities.

What we’re looking for
• A “can-do” attitude, the capability of bootstrapping projects with the ability to effectively work with multi-disciplinary, internal and external distributed teams across the project lifecycle. Demonstrable experience in Release Engineering, DevOps and Change Management.
• Strong understanding of configuration management tools in addition to automation and build frameworks (e.g. Ant/Maven/Jenkins), significant experience with agile development practices, continuous integration and test automation (TDD, BDD, Selenium).
• Skilled in one or more scripting languages (e.g. Ruby, Bash, Python) and experience across the entire software development life-cycle from inception, through build to production and have lived with the impact of software and system design decisions on manageability, supportability, and troubleshooting.
• You have a passion for coaching other engineers and building a strong team culture, confidence to express own opinions and be pragmatic about modifying them when appropriate, while demonstrating excellent team working and communication skills.

Key responsibilities
• As a DevOps Engineer you will automate, automate, and automate – delivering a modern, lean approach to “smoothing the path” our software takes from a developer’s workstation, through develop and test cycles, toward production.
• As part of a wider DevOps community you will also help drive continuous improvement of our tooling and build pipelines in a relentless mission to speed up feedback loops, shift testing and shorten delivery release cycles.
• You will ensure that build and release jobs are written in a way which is consistent with - and exploits where possible - the collective frameworks, patterns and practices that exist across the wider DevOps community.
• It is also very important to understand and apply industry best practices, foster knowledge sharing to provide solutions for complex business problems where no precedent may exist, and ensure implementation of solutions where appropriate.
• As a leader, you’re expected to mentor and develop more junior DevOps engineers, providing clear and constructive feedback and creating opportunities for learning and growth.

The ultimate measure of success is working software in production and a team that is continually challenged, motivated, mentored and supported where necessary. So, if being at the cutting edge of Digital Banking appeals and you have the background and skills we are looking for then get in touch, we would be keen to hear from you.

We're committed to employing a diverse and inclusive workforce, reflective of the customers and communities we serve – where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit.

And we’re proud to have received these industry recognitions: Stonewall Top Private Sector Employer, Top10 Employer for Working Families, The Times Top 50 Employer for Women and both Gold Standard and Best Workplace Adjustments Process from the Business Disability Forum.

Our vision of being the best bank for customers is dependent on every colleague committing to and demonstrating our core value of "putting customers first". In joining us you'll have a role that matters and will contribute towards the Group achieving our vision through your day-today actions being performed in line with our Codes of Responsibility and Group Policies. By individually and collectively committing to our Group values and codes, we will be able to make a difference together and help Britain prosper.

We're also committed to employing a diverse and inclusive workforce, reflective of the customers and communities we serve – where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit.

We're proud to have received the following industry recognition: 'Stonewall Top Private Sector Employer', 'Top10 Employer for Working Families', 'The Times Top 50 Employer for Women' and both 'Gold Standard' and "Best Workplace Adjustments Process" from the Business Disability Forum – each demonstrating our commitment to the principles of agile working and inclusion for all.

So if this sounds like a culture that you'd like to be a part of then be assured that we'll welcome your application.
