Introduction

We need:

  • A Demand Forecasting Manager, based in one of our key locations
    • Swindon, Northampton, London, Sheffield or Dunfermline
    • Home working 1-2 days per week on average is an option
    • If the successful candidate is not based in Swindon, then frequent travel to our Head Office will be set as an expectation up front, likely to be an average of 6-8 days per month
  • £49,838 - £66,451 a year dependent on skills and experience

In this role you will be taking the lead in creating and implementing a demand planning and forecasting process across Nationwide, helping us to better articulate what skills and capabilities we need to deliver the services we provide for our customers.

Taking into account requirements for all worker categories including Employees, Temporary Workers, Contractors and Managed Services the range of inputs we need to collect are complex, and the outputs produced will be key drivers for enterprise wide budget planning. To achieve this however you will have sponsorship at every level of the company and the support of line management and other key individuals who have experience in demand planning and expertise in reporting.

This is a brand new role for Nationwide and is key to enabling us to build the right structure to deliver both the corporate and local business area plans. This role also has the potential to grow in seniority and scope, and for that reason we will be seeking to hire someone with the drive and potential to take on a more senior role within a short time span.

Who we're looking for

A business partnering expert with extensive experience of working with complex data sets. Working closely with the key stakeholders across Nationwide, you’ll have outstanding communication and presentation skills with the ability to analyse drivers for demand and historic data trends. 

As a minimum requirement you’ll:

  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills and be a data subject matter expert with significant experience of utilising a range of complex data sets to articulate predicted trends and translate into demand plans
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to present and discuss forecasting information with senior management
  • Ability to partner key stakeholders, build strong relationships and work collaboratively to understand business area requirements
  • Broad and in-depth understanding of all resourcing activities and functions, including brand, attraction, supplier management, assessment methodology and governance
  • Demonstrable experience of producing reports, plans and presenting complex information to a variety of audiences
  • Experience and working knowledge of working within a financial services organisation or a highly regulated environment
  • Expert user of MS Office particularly Excel

 It would be nice if you also had:

  • Academic background, preferably with studies in Marketing, Strategic Planning, Business Management or Statistics

What you'll be doing

As the Demand Forecasting Manager you will be accountable for all resourcing forecasting activities associated with Nationwide’s business and corporate plan delivery. You will create and maintain forecast models incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from a range of data to include; attrition, finance headcount planning, resourcing and additional business drives.

 You will also be:

  • Developing and deploying a robust framework to capture demand projections across all resourcing channels
  • Co-ordinating with Managers to ensure the forecasting process is finalised and ready for submission to Finance and the HR planning schedule
  • Working collaboratively with senior management to develop regular forecasting effectiveness evaluation processes at both the detail and aggregated level
  • Ensuring data integrity and quality by reviewing, identifying unusual occurrences, seeking explanations and assisting in developing corrections to prevent reoccurrences
  • Assists Resourcing Delivery and HR Business Partner Teams with the development of consolidated delivery plans and cost/time forecasting for changes to plans
  • Establish and maintain forecast performance measurement and evaluation, including developing recommendations and presenting to senior management
  • Working closely with the Resourcing Performance Manager to submit the Resourcing Budget Bid
  • Externally networking with leading recruitment demand planning experts in relevant industry areas and our RPO suppliers to test best practice and identify business or market trends
