THE ROLE

An exciting vacancy has arisen in the Marketing Department for a Communications Assistant. Responsible for leading and delivering key mechanics and projects from all disciplines within the communications function. Through regular communication with heads of functions, external suppliers and agencies this role will lead the generation and delivery of a minimum of £1.5m worth of non invoiceable supplier funding to enable internal budgets to focus on brand building advertising. This will involve liaising with supplies such as P&G and Unilever,  supply chain/CMT’s  and agencies to complete tasks such as booking media, produce creative, generating ROI and monitoring/protecting brand perception. This role will be responsible for generating and managing the in store radio messages that 4.3m customer hear weekly, accountable for linking to the customer plan and will include production, sign off and content. and complexity allows.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Own and lead the delivery of all supplier press tagging (TV and press). Meet and plan with suppliers such as P&G and Unilever to generate £1.5m of non invoiceable press spend to always ensuring brand consistency.
  • Work cross functionally with the operational marketing and trading team to ensure that all ATL supplier plans are consistent with TTL approaches and creative.
  • Brief agencies to produce artwork (keeping in Wilko and supplier brand guidelines) and book media space and work in collaboration with suppliers to ensure titles featured are relevant to our customer groups.
  • Work in collaboration with external agencies to create in store radio messages that communicates to 4.3m customers per week. Responsible for ensuring content links with the customer plan generated by operational marketing as well as the on line/instore material.
  • Present all creative work to the brand steering meeting to obtain sign off on work, dealing with any senior stakeholder challenges and questions as appropriate.
  • Own and produce weekly and monthly dashboards to the board and trading board that provide progress updates on campaign activities from the whole department.
  • Support in the day to day production of communications materials (Press ads, supplier funding, door drops, leaflets) by coordinating workload through external suppliers, agencies, photo studio and trading floor.
  • Support the PR Officer with information gathering, preparing press releases/agency briefs in order to play a key role in delivering the press shows.
  • Deal with enquiries from agencies, direct from press, general public and other related organisations to secure positive coverage in targeted national, regional and local media.
  • Work with and be responsible for sign off for nominations for products featured with cat managers and supply chain functions.
    Ensure payment of invoices are made on time, and details accurately recorded to support the management of the communications budget.

THE PERSON

  • Experience of working with large suppliers to deliver a successful press campaign and generate high amount of non invoiceable marketing.
  • Experience of ATL and TTL marketing methods.
  • Experience of producing creative content in line with brand guidelines and customer plan.
  • Experience of presenting creative content to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in collaboration with external agencies in relation to PR, Press Shows, Radio etc
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Excellent written and creative skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under time constraints.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other departments.
