About Our Client

King's College London Students' Union (KCLSU) have agreed an array of new properties and projects to improve the experience of KCL students. KCLSU will be moving in to newly refurbished facilities in the iconic Bush House. This is providing an excellent platform for the Senior Leadership Team to fulfil their ambitions of driving an increase in revenue and, equally importantly, student satisfaction to become a net contributor to the organisation.

The other major area of operations will be within Guy's Campus, joined to the world renowned Guy's Hospital at London Bridge, which is currently undergoing a major £5million renovation scheme.

Job Description

The Commercial Services Director will sit on the Senior Leadership Team and report directly to the Chief Executive.

Core areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

• Developing a sector leading Commercial Services division that serves our members' needs in a timely, affordable and ethical way
• Creating an environment and culture where teams feel able and willing to present ideas and suggestions in an effort to raise service standards and improve the overall student experience and financial performance of the Union
• Working with and challenging all teams within directorate to deliver innovative, varied events and activities to engage and deepen student loyalty
• Collaborating with the KCLSU Senior Leadership Team and Board to drive organisational impact for our members
• As a member of Senior Leadership Team be part of strategic decision making, opportunity seizing and problem solving

The Successful Applicant

The successful applicant will be able to display a combination of:

• Experience of successfully managing a profitable commercial operation with full P&L responsibility
• Experience of business development and recognised success in driving commercial growth
• Experience of successfully working in a leadership role and operating at senior leadership level in a licensed venue, cafe or retail capacity
• Experience of leading and inspiring a diverse workforce of both direct and indirect staff required and creating a positive working environment
• Experience of developing operational policies and procedures in licensed trade and/or retail environment

As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will be able to display innovative problem solving skills alongside a desire and ability to seize commercial opportunities in an ethical and responsible manner.

To successfully fill the Commercial Services Director role, you will be passionate about championing the student experience and have a genuine desire to uphold the values of the Students' Union to both internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
