Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust provides community health, mental health, learning disability and social care services. An exciting opportunity has arisen for one full time Clinical Psychologist to work within the Southampton City Community Learning Disability Team. This multi-disciplinary specialist LD health team consists of a broad range of health professionals and is based within Thomas Lewis House in the centre of Southampton City. This post is supported by a part-time 8c Consultant Clinical Psychologist post and a part time band 8a Clinical Psychologist post.

We welcome applications from both newly qualified Psychologists and Psychologists with more experience, who are enthusiastic about applying their skills in a Community Learning Disability setting.

The post-holder will offer a psychological service for adults with learning disabilities who have specialist health needs and work closely with their families and carers. Services provided will include specialist psychological assessment, therapy, advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to a wide range of stakeholders. Work is undertaken across a range of community settings including peoples’ homes, day services, and private residential homes.

Access to a vehicle for work purposes and valid driving licence

Supervision will be provided by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

A DBS check is required by the Employer for this post. The Employer will undertake an initial check at the appropriate level on appointment. You will comply with all Employer processes in order to provide yearly permission to the Employer enabling it to view your status and to undertake random checks as required. If you change to a role where a check would no longer be required this will be confirmed and you may end your membership if desired.
