Basic qualifications:
BSc degree in Immunology, Haematology, Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
Experience with human primary cell isolation, expansion, differentiation.
Experience in use of viral vectors for genetic modification.
Experience in cell analysis/characterisation techniques (Flow cytometry, CFU assays, immunocytochemistry, cell differentiation assays).
Experience in assays for gene/protein expression analysis (PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, WB, etc)
Good organisation and communication skills
Demonstrable ability to work in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams
Demonstrable ability to work independently, plan, organise, troubleshoot and present work
Preferred qualifications:
PhD
Experience in Gene Therapy
In vivo work experience

GSK’s Cell and Gene Therapy Platform is being expanded to support an increasing portfolio of cell and gene therapies. The team is responsible for delivering the Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) aspects of the projects from early phase to launch and the development of innovative technologies to enable step-change improvements to cell & gene therapy manufacture.
About the role.
A highly motivated and independent individual is sought to work within the Process Research team, Cell and Gene Therapy Platform. The successful candidate will be expected to:
Participate in activities related to the understanding and improvement of the cell-virus interactions for the genetic modification of primary cells.
In addition, the role may involve contribution to documents required for Regulatory submissions (Briefing documents, IMPDs, etc).The successful candidate will report to the Transduction Sciences Manager. Their work will however involve collaboration with multiple units within GSK as well as external collaborators. Excellent communication, organisation and presentation skills, as well as demonstrable ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams are required.
The role will be based in the UK, in Stevenage. The role requires external engagement with 3rd parties (contractors, suppliers, academic and industry groups). As such, experience with working with 3rd parties and management of outsourced work will be an advantage. European and international travel will be required at times, as dictated by the project needs.
