A rare opportunity for a successful ambitious degree qualified Sales / Business Development Manager, Contract Manager, Site Manager, Project Manager or Site Engineer to build a stand alone civil engineering contracting business with the backing of a stable but expanding group.
 

JOB SPECIFICATION: Sales Manager / Site Manager - Civil Engineering Contractor

A mix of business development and winning new projects and managing those projects when won. Initially concentrating more on business development which will involve using the company’s existing contacts on the UK mainland, but also targeting and approaching and promoting the company’s capabilities to other main contractors. This will come from leads, market knowledge and there will be scope for utilising another UK company in the group’s extensive database of contacts. There are usually two or three projects running in the UK worth about £1m per annum which typically last for three or four months. These have come purely from reacting to incoming enquiries, usually through links from existing clients. So with the investment in this person they will be looking for further growth in the UK. Once projects are won the role will be much more focussed on managing these project sites. You will be reporting directly into the Managing Director, but working from another existing company in the group’s HQ which you will visit once or twice a week.

REQUIREMENTS: Business Development Manager / Site Manager - Civil Engineering

To be considered for this potentially very rewarding role in terms of career development and reaping the rewards for building a business, you will need an in depth knowledge of the UK civils contracting market with at least 5 years’ post (degree) qualified experience in civil engineering or possibly geotechnical or another construction related discipline. Ideally you will have both sales/ account management or business development and project/ site management experience, with in depth technical knowledge. However, my client would definitely consider an ambitious Contract Manager, Site Engineer, Site Manager or Project Manager from main contractor with excellent technical knowledge with the drive, determination and personality to initiate and develop relationships with main contractors and win new projects and manage them.
