Business Analyst (Fixed Term)


Cambridge University Development and Alumni Relations (CUDAR) has an outstanding track record of securing philanthropic gifts and has overall responsibility for coordinating the campaign for the University and Colleges of Cambridge ¿ see www.philanthropy.cam.ac.uk.

We are developing a new CRM system which goes live in a few months' time. This system contains detailed records for over 300,000 alumni, prospects, donors, trusts and organisations. The data held enables fundraising and alumni relations across Collegiate Cambridge, and is also used on behalf of Schools, Faculties and Departments, Clubs and Societies, Cambridge Trusts and Cambridge in America to drive communications with alumni, and to identify and co-ordinate fundraising approaches with prospects.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the role-holder's primary responsibilities are: - analysis and research: identify and document existing fundraising and alumni relations processes and system inputs and outputs through discussion with stakeholders across the business

  • development and testing: lead the development of test scripts and user stories through engagement with relevant stakeholders and subject matter experts to enable robust testing to be undertaken

  • data mapping and migration: lead engagement with relevant subject matter experts across the business (central University, Colleges and Cambridge in America) and propose appropriate solutions for mapping fields and attributes from source to target systems

  • stakeholder management: develop effective working relationships with business and project stakeholders to facilitate work

  • decision making: responsible for the resolution of business issues relating to system testing and data mapping issues

  • training and support: identify training gaps in current and future users

In the initial period up to go-live the focus will be on data mapping and migration, with focus in the next phase of migrating additional institutions to the new CRM system. Essential skills and experience: - IT/business professional with experience operating in complex environments

  • experience of working with a database/CRM system

  • ability to lead and co-ordinate complex data mapping and migration exercises

  • excellent analysis and problem solving skills

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
